‘Autumn Still…’ the new album from The Dark Shadows captures that quiet frozen moment stolen in time… a collective journey of 12 tracks conjuring the thoughts and emotion of times, travel and unexplored places… twisting turns, wind you deep down through this aural path, treading lightly so as not to crush the beauty of fallen leaves, exploring the dim, mysteriously lit places of our hearts and mind… Autumn still… is a quiet, secret place where one can feel free to express, sense and feel the essence of being.

Be it difference, indifference, defiance or alliance, here, may we speak, exchange, correspond those unspoken moments where words alone are not enough… it is still here, in the Autumn still…

A moment stolen in time… Captured thoughts, scenery and sounds… The essence of a time and place, caught up in a collection of emotive thoughts and mood provoking tones, empty branches, fallen leaves, frosted feelings that set the soundtrack ready to embrace the frozen chill…

‘Autumn Still…’ is a gathering of 12 tracks together as part a Dark Shadows collective introducing new tracks as well as including the singles previously released on limited edition vinyl that evoke the mood and feeling of the Dark Shadows musical journey and evolution of recent times. The Dark Shadows new album, ‘Autumn Still…’ will be released in Europe and the UK on CD and limited edition collectible 12" vinyl including digital download codes through Halb-7 Records, with distribution through Broken Silence (D) and C7 (UK). CD will release as beautiful Digifile with 12-page booklet in smart-minimal black-white artwork.

This Sydney based independent group has toured throughout Australia, USA, UK, Europe & Japan, playing with bands such as Glasvegas (UK), The Jim Jones Review (UK), Frustration (FR), Hugh Cornwell (The Stranglers, UK), Skeletal Family (UK), Der Fluch (Germany), Marky Ramone (USA), Christian Death (USA), †13th Moon† (Japan), The Stray Cats (USA), Sham 69 (UK). The band has also appeared at international festivals including Wave Gotik Treffen (WGT), Leipzig, Germany, Semana Gotica Festival Madrid, Spain, Whitby Gothic Weekend UK, Psychomania Rumble Germany, Ink 'n' Iron Festival in Long Beach CA, USA. The Dark Shadows have received great reviews throughout Europe/UK/Tokyo, appearing at The Semana Gotica Festival Madrid, Spain and Whitby Gothic Weekend in Whitby, UK, with features in the UK/EU press including, Top Bands for 2012 in Viva le Rock Mag UK, Big Cheese Mag and the 11:11 EP filling slot 3 on the Charts in UK Rock'n'Roll Mag. Their track 'Dark Shadow' - reached No. 24 on DOBLE 9 MOST PLAYED (Lima, Peru). 'Denial' made #33 in the 'Top 100 Most Played' and 'Blame' came in a #58!!

Distänt Mind

Inspired by those with a different point of view, the ones who see and feel things that others can’t… an appreciation and respect for the beauty of difference…

The Boy from Berlin

Birds, beautiful creatures carrying messages across the skies but when the Raven looks over your shoulder, one gets the feeling that there’s changes in the air…The idea for the song title sprung to mind before ever having ever visited the place, after hearing romantic notions of tales from friends faraway… of course a lot became clearer through our own travels to the city itself where things made a lot more sense for the song to come to completion.

Line of Sight…

Blurred visions… we blur the edges… in our hearts we know what’s right but find it hard to walk away… I love the rain. it falls, covers everything, darkening the streets and cleansing the way for fresh and brighter things. The lyrics to this song were written in a blind frenzy, rushing across the page. At the time I had no idea from where they came or what they meant and still don’t really… some questions are best left a mystery…

Eisbär

First came across this great track by 80’s Swiss wave band Grauzone on tour in Germany and totally fell in love with it… everything about the original recording is perfect so we were pretty nervous about doing a version but the song is so infectious and we had so much fun laying it down. We love a good challenge of which it definitely was getting my tongue around the Deutsch lyrics! It was an interesting experiment singing in another language… there was more freedom with the voice, which felt more like part of the instrumentation. German is such a fantastic language for music, it offers so many great sounds. ‘Eisbär’ (Ice Bear) is the first single from the ‘Autumn Still…’ album and we’ve just released a new video for it, shot and produced by Melbourne based film-makers, Strongman Pictures.

Emergency

A cold wave rushes over as truth is revealed, making mountains out of molehills and drowning our sorrows is no easy solution. Familiarity breeds contempt and a paranoid mind will erode away the strongest of hearts. Things are not always as catastrophic as they seem, tomorrow will come and negativity shall be washed away

Still Lives

Where the day meets the night, we are still…Our lives constantly flicker before us, twisting and turning into the torrential downpour of the past. Still we sit in this swirl of recognition, searching for something we know not…

Nobody Knows

We all think we do… but actually nobody does… and who are we really anyway? Relevance, importance, urgence… what does it all mean and matter in the end when we’re destroying all we love and everything that is anyway…?

Scissors

Created something great, but incomplete… cut, scattered, thrown halfway across the earth… some things can never be…We weren’t ever sure how this one would turn out or how it would fit with the other tracks somehow… but Scissors really had it’s own life form and took shape in ways we never imagined from it’s first early conception… a dark horse shimmers in the moonlight…

Dark Shadow

Perversion of power through isolation… this is not a pretty song and it draws on shadows of the past but through the relief of music, one has the strength to step into the light and move forward…

DARK SHADOWS UK/EUROPEAN TOUR 2013:

As the curtain falls over summer and the cold starts to creep back in, The Dark Shadows will cross the seas this Autumn to launch their forthcoming release ‘Autumn Still…’ in Europe and the UK in October-November where they’ll will perform live across Germany, Austria, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland and UK…

The Dark Shadows will also be launching their new video for the single ‘Eisbär’ (Ice Bear), a version of Swiss cult wave band Grauzone’s NDW hit. Shot and produced by Melbourne based film-makers, Strongman Pictures. After officially launching the clip and single in Australia in September, Dark Shadows heading to Europe/UK for their autumn tour in October/November.
