Limited vinyl edition (333) from a live performance of the Italian cult-quartet LARSEN, including well-known guest musicians like DAVID TIBET (CURRENT 93) and BABY DEE (CURRENT 93), JULIA KENT (ANTHONY & THE JOHNSONS) and JOHANN JOHANNSSON. Abeceda will be released on the new HALB 7-sublabel BEHIND s.r.b.

LARSEN (also to be found on Important Records) is an experimental music-collective operating closely to the gateway of Sounds capes and Ambient, Ritual Music, Urban Folk, Avant-garde and Independent. As hard as it is to capture the band’s musical style, as interesting it is to see the musical guests who have been participating in this live performance. Typographies of KARL TEIGE, who is a Czech art historian, publisher, and artist, have been performed by the Russian dancer SNEJANKA MIHAYLOVA. She choreographed and danced these typographies to the background music performed by LARSEN AND FRIENDS. With the help of Theremin, chimes, electronic viola, guitars, drums, accordion, and electronics a highly emotional sounding body occurred which is being carried with minimalistic and repetitive melodies and rhythms. This melodious spectacle is also supported by the pictorial cello play by JULIA KENT, the piano and harp passages by BABY DEE, as well as JOHANN JOHANNSSON‘s contributions via laptop and electronic organ. Hereunto DAVID TIBET gave his distinctively well-known singing passages. Even without the visual power of the interdisciplinary event of art, the musical performance, which is divided into nine parts and lasts for one hour, is a fascinating journey into experimental but also familiar worlds of sound. The music by LARSEN AND FRIENDS interacts far away from any kind of expectations and conventional boarders. It touches the hearer emotionally and directly.

Together with the regular vinyl a special edition, which is limited up to 99 pieces, is going to be released as well. In this connection the LARSEN-Logo, a mirrored “L”, has been thematically picked up. The folded cover encloses the regular 4 coloured cover. The paperboard container is silkscreen printed (black / white) and grafted through an attached picture inlay. Next to the luxury outer shell the special edition includes a video-DVD as a special feature. The ABECEDA-performance ( live in Torino ) can be undergone in complete length. It has absolutely perfect quality considering picture, sound, and cut. For the stylistic rounding of the special edition a white / gray vinyl has been chosen instead of the regular black one.

The elaborate design, the limited number of pieces, and the highly artistic musical quality of LARSEN AND FRIENDS let this edition become a special collector’s item.
